Engineering Tour (Saturday, September 14)

From 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, Mount Wilson Observatory will conduct a special, Behind-the-Scenes, Engineering Tour of our two large telescopes, concentrating on the mechanical, optical, and electrical details of these amazing historic instruments, with full demonstrations of their motion controls. The engineering that went into the 60-inch and 100-inch telescopes, both the biggest in the world for a period of time, represented the cutting edge of technology when they opened in 1908 and 1917 respectively. Come see the inner workings of the most productive observatory in history! The tour is limited to 10 people.
